I still growl every single time when I have to press 1 for English. We were taught that when we were guests it was OUR job to fit in and be on our best behavior.

Which applies to this story how?

Wait till you see the backlash from the media... "Citizens can't read government forms in English, ACLU planning class action lawsuit against city of Lino Lakes for discrimination, lawsuit printed in 15 languages at 12 times the cost"... This would be a great way to see if it actually saves cities money.

Too bad. My ancestors were immigrants and they knew they would need to speak english to live here.

It's about time. Tired of my tax money going for 50 different languages on forms. Hey State officials of MN follow what they are doing in Lino Lakes.

If we went anywhere else in the world and expected people to bend over backward to speak engrish we'd be laughed out of the country if not worse. When are we going to wise up? Australia actually requires that people have jobs and must show that they can actually contribute where they are moving.

ITS ABOUT TIME WE STARTED DEALING WITH ALL THIS NONSENSE!!! The official language in the United States is ENGLISH. Its not that hard to learn basic english to be able to communicate.

Seems unnecessary. I don't see any legal authority that requires Lino Lakes to print in any language other than English. This seems like grandstanding to me. They want to take a political stance under the guise that they will save money by passing this worthless ordinance. Will Lino Lakes pass an ordinance making White, its "official" color?

Drop the 1st two words and you would have come off as more thoughtful; instead you appear to be just another bigot.

At the same time though, I think my position needs to be crystal clearon this. If you DO happen to speak more than 1 language- great! More power to you. People coming in though that can't be BOTHERED to learn that language though? Sorry, hell no. If you moved to Germany for example, and moved away from the tourist areas, you'd be EXPECTED to learn german, or at LEAST make a reasonable effort. Why is it that the same standards DON'T apply here?? A bit of common sense goes a LONG way.
