It's not all about dogs. Owners get to socialize, too, at new dog parks in Brooklyn Park and New Hope.

Dog parks are good for dogs and people. They add to the enjoyment of a commuity and I love the fact that they are becoming more common. I take my dog to the one on the south side of Cleary Lake in Prior Lake and he loves the exercise and socialization.

Having a dog park helps tremendously when you have a dog. Its like a sleeping pill for them. If I'm having company over or the dogs are restless we go to the park and let them exercise. I'm curious what some of the cons were from neighbors? - I guess barking and more traffic. - some dog owners are weird...really weird. Here are some of the pros I know of. - pretty cheap to create and people are generally respectful of the rules there. - Good for the local businesses. - Reduce crime in areas. Curious what other readers think of the pros and cons?

...would be the dogs you find at dog parks. Not only physical benefits for dogs (and owners), but mental aspects for the dogs is important. Dogs that are not socialized are the problem pets and most likely to cause trouble. Dog parks help solve these problems...or the dogs that are not socialized are soon not welcome. This is great stuff!!!

Are any of these areas 100% fenced? I would like to use them, as they are closer to home than the one a Elm Creek, but I need the fence!

Please dog owners, use these parks. Start your dogs off as puppies and socialize them. A dog that only knows the members of it's own family is going to act out when another dog come around. These parks are great and you can meet others yourself. The park in Coon Rapids is large and completely fenced in. Another note. Anoka county does not charge a fee to use their dog parks. Hint, hint Hennepin county. Minneapolis, you are the worst offender, when it comes to charging to use your dog parks.
