Today's front page bears a difficult but important story about suicide. Here's an accounting of the issues we considered.

"The power of the press is the power to influence,...". Nancy, when you became the Editor of the StarTribune you said that it will continue to publish feeds from the New York Times and Washington Post. Good grief! Then, just in the last couple of months, you brought back the global warmist Paul Douglas! The StarTribune is just not a reliable source of information anymore. Playing the emotional card to your readers when they need second jobs to pay for their unemployed kids isn't working working anymore. Just report the facts please.

"The power of the press is the power to influence, and we need to take great care with how we wield that influence" About time! Um, this is to commence WHEN, exactly? You smug and self-satisfied journalists crack me up! See ya in the funny pages!

A careful scrolling of the front page and a search of both the words "elderly" and "suicide" turn up no sign of the story. If it's important enough for an editor's note, shouldn't it be important enough to run on the Web site? I'd appreciate the chance to read it.

"The influence of the press and the responsibilities therein..."

A great topic for Rupert and Roger. After a year, the biggest complaints about the huge reform of healthcare are all about how it was made, not much at all about its content.

Here's another topic for us to consider, "Is it ethical to incite and arouse the public's fear and passion with the express intent of generating profits for the media company?"

Then you will also be addressing the depressed condition of the elderly, which you lament with limited context. Did we survive all these years of war, up and down economy, sacrificing for our country and our families, just to see Americans trash talk their own people? Their own government? Their own President?

Only 63, I can already see why old folks get weary with life itself.

our own President. After eight years of liberals constantly saying stuff like, "He's not MY President" and "A town in Texas has lost their village idiot," regarding President Bush, I grew quite weary of it indeed. Yes, UNreasonable2, I am indeed throwing up you liberal's complaint about conservatives trash-talking President Obama back in your face. It is the pot calling the kettle black.

I really don't care what the right wing says about President Obama or any other politician that you don't like. Because nothing that you can say means anything to those of us that have a brain and do care for this country.
