1# Icelandair is one word. 2# British Airways only offers flights via codeshare w/ American Airlines, they do not fly to MSP themselves at all. 3# Another reason to fly this route, from what I've heard through the grapevine, is gain experience w/ ETOPS, something the US military possibly requires from carriers before giving contracts to them. (ETOPS itself isn't enough, you need experience with it too, again, speculation.) For those unfamiliar, ETOPS = Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards. Nothing new for planes, if you've flown NW or Delta across the Atlantic recently, the plane you've flown has been using ETOPS regulations. Regardless of the size, if it has two engines, you need ETOPS to fly for an extended period of time over water.

temp cuts to flight attendants are cyclical at sun country, its been pointed out lots of times. Good luck to Sun Country so they can expand to new markets! Hopefully Hawaii

A pretty major correction is in order: British Airways doesn't fly to MSP. They have a codeshare with American, but flying on an American Airlines regional jet to O'Hare with a bunch of salesmen heading to Naperville office parks or connecting to Peoria, and then having to change terminals at O'Hare before waiting for a BA flight to London, hardly encompasses the smooth panache implied by the statement that British Airways "[flies] from MSP" with a stop at O'Hare. I mean this in all seriousness: study the destinations on the Wikipedia page for MSP. You can probably memorize all the international destinations flown from MSP in an evening. Not counting winter-only vacation spots or Canadian cities, you can count the nonstop international routes on one hand (plus one additional finger, if you count this new 1-stop service).

Just hope that computer systems and security personnel are at the top of their game at this opportunistic airline. I wish them well.

No thanks. 10 years ago I flew to London for $250 round trip.

I thought it meant Engines Turn Or People Swim. :-) Best of luck to Sun Country, a new (once a week, with a fuel stop) hometown intercontinental airline.

$800-$900 is actually not a bad summer fare to London, Delta is going to be at least that. Only non-stop service to Europe out of MSP is to London-Heathrow and Amsterdam on Delta. They also throw in a non-stop to Paris in the summer. Right now a round trip MSP-London on Delta in June is $1370 so Sun Country is a bargain. And 10 years ago I bought a gallon of gas for 99 cents. Really check fares have gone up.

They were great flights , good service and reasonable competitive fares. Go Sun Country , keep Delta honest , because nobody ever kept NWA honest . My european relatives keep telling me best way from & to the states is Ryan airlines X Chicago. Thank goodness we have SouthWest airlines here in MN finially to get us to Chicago. Even if it is Midway airport.
