All Car Companies should have came forward with a full disclosures of what car were dangerous. Instead of waiting for a huge media blitz and tons of public pressure. I never seen so many car companies GM - NISSAN - TOYOTA - HYUNDAI having recalls all at the same time. I had no idea my car was affected until I looked on http://www.carpedalrecall.com and found I had a bad Anti Lock control unit on my 2008 Pontiac G8 , my co workers Ford Truck had a recall also. So be careful

This is all smoke and mirrors on Toyota's behalf. They avoided, delayed, opposed the recall and until public opinion demanded some accountability Toyota did nothing, and when they did, it was a pieced together, admit nothing and attempt to remove the scarlet letter from their breast. Anyone with any amount of knowledge of the automotive business know that the company has directed all employees to be mum regarding the recall and they have a PR person available to handle the news media. This is not the end of this case, and you will see additional disclosures yet to come. I question how many PCM re-calibrations are being done without customer notification under the guise of customer satisfaction, when brought in for the recall, as an attempt to cover up the actual concern. Toyota, which is not an American company is not subject to the same controls as American companies. It is more than their failure to pay their fair share as the American manufactures are, instead their loyalty is to the Father Land, Japan, and Americans be damned. Think about how this has been handled next time you chose to buy from a foreign company. You are reaping the rewards of years of bad decisions.

I have two 1989 Caprices. They look like new and run like new. Take good care of your car and it should last a long time. I seriously do not like the plastic cars that are computers on wheels built now and question their longevity.

What about the Vega, the incinerator called the Pinto, and all the other crappy, uglier than thou, gas gobbling American cars? Do you think the American manufacturers were concerned with being transparent? I don't think so!

The thing will depreciate $5,000 the second I drive it off the lot; I'll have to pay twice the amount of my present car insurance; everything is computerized (no more just reaching in the engine compartment and changing the plugs, dizzy cap, points, and condenser; everything is plastic (if I bump a snowdrift, the cold plastic bumper clips will snap; it will more than likely get keyed, scratched or door-dented in the parking lot (there's always someone who will park next to a new car, even if the parking lot is completely empty); have to buy a new Chilton's to work on it...but it gets 10 more miles to the gallon.
