But there is nobody left off this team off this team deserved to be here. Rolston Modano and Gurien are well past there useful life, there are a couple players that could be debated for the last spot but none that had a meaningful case. Trust me if Burke was running Canada he would have picked a better team for them, but in this case the best team would have fallen into anyones lap. We are lucky to have Burke who was capable of confirming that, but this really is an odd case where a perfect hockey team was available simply by selecting the top 23 players.

I went to middle and high school with Brian and yes- I do have a few stories I could tell! His large Catholic family was prominent in athletics and various areas of leadership. He has always been determined, intense, loyal, and humorous. I marvel at all he has accomplished and hope he will have some time one of these days to stop back in town to see the old gang~ Fantastic to watch the success of this Olympic team!

So how exactly is Canada in the final? Seems to me they should go ahead and give the medals out right now, with the gold going to the one team that is undefeated and untied. Even if Canada wins, they still finish with a worse record than the USA. Pretty difficult to take any of this stuff seriously.

They are not handing out medals now for the same reason they don't hand out Lord Stanley's Cup to the team who finishes the regular season with the best record.

You must be confusing these Olympic games with the BCS.

Great article and one that needed to be written, this TEAM is exactly that, a TEAM and Burke did a great job of picking guys who play like that, not sure i understand why so many dismissed this team as they all play in the NHL, just because they are young, perhaps that means that they are hungrier. In any case go USA!!!

everyone would have predicted gold from the start, but I guess we get to ignore a guy well on his way to a 70 point season, one of many on team USA

Interesting that both refs and one linesman that have been assigned to the gold medal game are from CANADA! The other linesman is from Finland and I'm sure he will be unbiased after the beat down that the USA put on them on Friday. You would think that the powers that be would avoid any conflict or appearance of a conflict for a game like this. I guess the USA gold will be even sweeter after hearing this as another obstacle to overcome.
