Rest in peace Charlie. You were a true populist mayor.

a hole is left in the fabric of Minneapolis history. He was the right man in the right place at the right time to guide Minneapolis during some turbulent times. God bless Charlie Stenvig...

We were at a convention in Winona. Charlie was there, when word came in that he won the election, he ordered a few bottles of pink champaign, took his shoes off and talked with everyone. Even at his time of political glory, he was more interested in how the idividual was doing than his own accomplishment, there was none better.

I went to school with his boys and lived a few blocks from his home. I remember walking by that "mansion" he lived in and guessing he must be really rich. lol It was just a newer home in an older neighborhood, that's all.

I only met him once, but that was enough to know what a great man he was. He lived a full life and our loss is heavens gain. Thank you for making an impact Charlie. You will never be forgotten!

Seems like Mayor Stenvig was a rebel in a sea of Liberalism. Hats off to a man who seems to have made a difference, at least for awhile. RIP Charlie............

Threw a monkey wrench in the Democratic machine, and God Bless Charlie for that. I especially liked it when he whipped Democratic clone Hofstad in a stunning upset- driving Hofstad to unmanly tears on election night.

But I also have to point out even the mayor of minneapolis needed to move to escape paying high income taxes and congratulations to his beneficiaries that MN won't be albe to take their cut of the estate.
