The doc doesn't like dealing with insurance so he only takes cash from his patients. However, he draws on medical insurance through his wife's employer? He hates insurance paperwork, but it's ok if others have to deal with his. I'm not impressed.

Think it is awesome what you are doing Doc!!!!!! When I make one of my (rare) doctor visits, I am amazed at how much time they spend entering info in the computer. You go in for a bad sore throat and the next thing you know they are looking at the computer and asking questions about your sex life. What?!? Even worse, I fell in a store and needed a couple stitches. This was just me tripping over my own two feet. Well, they wanted me to go back and file an accident report! I was like what? But it had to do with them wanting to get some insurance money. I told them it was not the stores fault and I wasn't going to file a report. I was going to go HOME and rest my leg. So Dr Eelkema, think it is great what you are doing. All the best to you.

The good doctor is on to something. No doctor in America could do that because they don't know what they're getting paid. They get 30 different fees for the same procedure in the same week because of all the different plans. The result is enormous administrative complexity. Most other countries have all decided that there's a basic conflict between making a profit for investors and covering people's health. When the American public gets to that point then heath care and socialism will not be considered synonymous.

Costs would decrease by 75% overnight if patients had to pay direct.

because it proves they are not needed. We need to cut out the middle man, i.e., the insurance companies, altogether. Drive a stake through their hearts!

...still only makes health care available to those that can afford it. Although I do like the idea of the elimination of useless administrative fees, this hardly seems like a solution to our health care problems.
