Why are we hiring someone from within? Look to the outside.

Is an abysmal mess, and we are not going to look for someone qualified from the outside who has been a part of another system that worked? What a joke! I bet we will get more money from the federal Government if we can lower the graduation rate in Minneapolis from 48% to someplace in the low 30's. We could become the "New Detroit". Someone with a clue please help!

the problem with hiring from outside is they never stick around long enough to achieve results...they flee to suburban jobs where the pay is higher and the job so much easier.

I am not personally attacking Ms. Johnson...but she may be guilty by association for already working in this mess. We need someone with a vision, and a history of success, not another insider to keep the status quo.

Precisely. Why do they think that someone who has been a part of a failing system can bring about the needed change? The district needs to stop what they are doing and start looking to other districts as models. Kids who have a record of failure can succeed, but not if we keep doing the same thing over and over.

find someone who does a good job for a couple of years and then leaves, versus having someone who will not change a thing because there is no pressure to.

They censor every post anyway. Go to the Pioneer Press if you want your comments to matter. The Strib is in the death throws like Martha Coakley in MA.
