GREAT! I donate extra money to the library every year. When I was a kid i spent sooooo much time at my MPLS neighborhood library...the librarians helped teach me to read. Libraries are so crucial to have a and educated population

Another day to stand in line for 20 minutes to do anything because they don't have enough staff. Another day for losers to spend all day surfing the net. Another day for smelly bums to park themselves in the comfy chairs all day. Another day for rude jerks to talk on their cell phones while the staff tiptoe around so as not to offend anyone. Another day to not be able to park because all the spaces are taken up before the library opens by downtown workers. Go Central!

Some people seem to find something to complain about in everything. Sorry the rest of us are so offensive to them. Probably best if they just stay home and vent in the comments section.

If you want faster service at the library, talk to the county board about raising your tax levy. That would get the library more staff!

I always support taxes for worthy things like libraries, but realistically any tax levy increase at this point won’t go to help the library, it’ll go to keeping HCMC afloat. (which is also a good thing.) But the library system has to stop pretending they can keep going the way they are with ever shrinking staff and budget. The ballpark funding is just smoke & mirrors papering over real problems, but the library seems convinced that if they just plug away and keep providing more open hours, regardless of the quality of service during those hours, they’ll get rewarded when the budget loosens up. Reality is that the powers that be with just say “Good job, guess you didn’t need a real budget after all, huh?” and cut them even more.
