ProUroCare Medical device monitors prostate cancer

ProUroCare Medical Inc. is trying to get FDA approval for a device that monitors prostate cancer through 3D images.

There is no way ProUroCare will be able to prove efficacy in a statistically significant manner to the satisfaction of the FDA (thousands of patients, tens of years of study). Investors, you are throwing your money away.

I had my prostate removed ten years ago, if this study would have been available I would have participated in this study.

How ironic that my husband, who has been treated for ongoing prostate cancer, was recently denied coverage by Blue Cross/Blue Shield for a PSA - because he had a PSA six months ago and is entitled to only one a year.

There is no such thing as low cost in medicine. When will we learn to leave the road of drugs, devices, and ridiculously paid practicioners and get on the road of lifestyle changes?

Lifestyle changes only does so much. People will still get cancer and other serious conditions. We need better ways to monitor so we know when treatment is needed and appropriate.

PSA gives false positives (better than missing a real cancer) to a very slow progressing cancer. If you are even doing one a year, you will be seeing more false positives than real results. This is why insurance is so high.
