Even deer can't escape the lunacy of Tim Pawlenty. Sad.

The fact that he couldn't take the time to make sure the deer was found is absolutely shameful. Hunting isn't a hobby that you just walk away from if something else comes up, you need to have enough respect for life to finish what you started! I don't care what your political affiliations are, this is just wrong.

if an out of state political gathering was more important than the responsibility of a hunter

...stops former Gov. Pawlenty in his tracks. "Remember me, Mr. Pawlenty? Thief River Falls, 2009. If you are going to shoot a deer, Mr. Pawlenty, you better make sure he's dead." (with apologies to Gary Larson's The Far Side)

Take a reckless action, walk away from responsibility for its failing and then claim a victory.

This is the reason I gave up hunting 25 years ago ~ I no longer wanted to be associated with the kind of individuals who do such things. I was taught to have respect for and take responsibility for any animal I shoot and to remain with it until I exhaust all possiblity of its recovery. Otherwise, the animal may suffer for hours, even days. For the shooter to leave a wounded animal FOR ANY REASON other than in the sure knowledge that all hope of finding it has been exhausted is apparently an ethic no longer taught or practiced. I'd be ashamed to have this story reported about me.

He took time to shoot the deer so he can look good for the media; but when it came to doing the dirty work and retrieving it, he left the work to someone else. What else should have we expected? Typical GOP'er, create a mess for someone else to take care of. Tim, why don't you just stay down in Iowa?

Leaving a wounded animal in the woods for political reasons....I hate politicians.

This is why I prefer to shoot caged deer.
