Tice - what is the point of this column? That locking up citizens for possible future crimes isn't right? Or that that violates their civil rights? You sure know how to waste space.

The program seems to have grown beyond its original intent to keep, as patients, those who committed sex crimes because they were mentally ill and unlikely to get well. What's been neglected in our prisons nationwide is ongoing mental health therapy so that those who are curable can be helped instead of being locked away forever. (The governor was being his typical hard-nosed right-wing judgmental self in this TV situation. Maybe the large TVs made it easier for people imprisoned forever to at least spend time with other people and perhaps make some friends.)
