It's nice near to hear a voice of MN common sense. When it comes to preserving and capturing the essence of Twin Cities history, heritage, and tradition Barbara Flanagan is one of those who reminds us on what makes the Twin Cities great.
In light of recent revelations by the Vikings regarding a new venue, why should the Vikings get a new stadium when for 1/3rd the cost the Metrodome can be revamped/remodeled to be even better?
If one can remember the reason the Metrodome was built, it was built primarily for football with baseball added in. Just think how grand an updated and remodeled Dome would enhance downtown Minneapolis. Even the LRT, parking, tail-gating, and access to the Revamped Dome would be could be enhanced for a substantial fraction less than building a new costly monster Viking facility with totally new infrastructure.
It would save the taxpayers plenty and the Vikings owners a bundle of cash also. Either way you look at it, it would be win/win situation for all concerned.
The Vikes would still be hiking up ticket prices regardless of where they play and they would still have revenue stream issues if they don't field a great team. At least, if they remodel the Dome etc. the Vikings would have capital to build a better team.
Barbara Flanagan you definitely called this one correctly.
How about "High Hopes"???
