Deal will keep the Finnish music director in Minnesota another five seasons.

Edo de Waart (sp?) started bringing the orchestra back during the 80s. Now Vanska taking it the rest of the way to where it belongs--a world class orchestra. This is wonderful news!

Couldn't they find someone else? The point being: some people will find something wrong with ANY news, because it doesn't suit their world-view. Congratulations, BTW.

I think Omso has alienated the casual classical music listener with his programs. Haven't been to MN Orch much since Oue left. Sorry, just my humble non-musial-snooty opinion. But congrats to Osmo.

$786,000 for 13 weeks of work. I guess there's no shortage of funds for the orchestra.
