I would hate to see the legend of the woods die but what a tag! Given the size, his life has been lived and was ready for the wall and freezer.

No doubt baited with Apples & Corn it's how all Cheese-Heads hunt. Fair chase is not an option. See the Bear chased up a tree by Dogs then shot from a week ago if you need proof.

"imagine a deer prancing through the forest. he comes up to a brook and puts his little deer lips in the water. suddenly, BAM! his brains go flying! do you really think the deer gives a f--k about what kind of pants the guy who shot him was wearing??"-marisa tomei from "My cousin Vinny"++++++++++++++++++ i'll continue to do my hunting at Lunds until the DNR starts issuing permits to the deer...

If it makes you feel more virtuous to buy your meat at Lunds more power to you. Others find virtue in taking personal responsibility for the deaths of some of the meat animals they consume - not letting the butcher do the dirty work every time. I could wish that there was less emphasis on trophy sport, but I can only make the decision to avoid that for myself.

The hunters who truly think about the ethics of the hunt know and accept their place in the world, same as the deer, the trout, the pig and the steer. The deer will be here as they have been here, living and dying same as humans. Folks can think that they are walking lightly on this earth by only getting food from the store but that's just folly. Human beings are pretty special and along with that comes responsibility. (That's why we need permits - to make the irresponsible ones tow the line.) But if you think that being vegan, or anti hunting makes you a better person... I just don't know. Seems to me if you are alive and eating, something else must die. Does that make you bad? I hope not. By all means, don't hunt if you think it's not right for you but never stop trying to understand other viewpoints too. What gets points in my book? Don't waste anything. Ever. That's what keeps your footprints gentle on this earth.

BTW, neither one can be compared to butchering or breeding for slaughter. i'm not trying to be judgemental but have a hard time justifying a 30 foot rack on the wall. i like venison as much as the next guy but my feelings are comparable to my take on fishing-i have never mounted a catch and always release wht i do not take. double standard? perhaps...
