I've been to a few of those places in Lowertown now; they're awesome! I don't live there, but I live in St. Paul and I'm always happy when there are St. Paul successes!

Now the cat is out of the bag about Lowertown! It's not Dt Mpls, which is good;) Yesterday had some good food and beer @ Bulldog and then jumped across the street for some free live Oktoberfest music in Mears Park. I gotta say Lowertown is a hidden gem in the Twin Cities!

Lowertown has ALWAYS been the 'cool' place to be: Artists, Art Crawl, Mears Park, Farmers Market, Concerts, Good Food, Good Drink, and more Artists!

Every couple of years I read an article like this about St Paul. Remember Galtier Plaza? Remember the "re-birth" of Selby? Remember Fhima's? Remember that big development project by the river? Remember << fill in the blank >>. Wake me up in 5 years, and I'll believe it then that this is real. That the City Council doesn't overtax or over levy them until it's not cost effective to do business there. That the neighborhood groups don't whine so much about the noise of a bustling neighborhood, that the city has to fine the businesses. I lived and did business in St. Paul for almost 20 years, and I'll believe it when I see it.

Selby is a thriving commercial street again, and it is the anchor to one of the nicest neighborhoods in the Twin Cities. And while the Bridges project didn't happen the big river front development that did get built recently had a sale of the rental multifamily buildings and it got a remarkable price given the economy. And I live in Lowertown so I am remarkably bias but it's really fun down here. Stuff to do during the day/night- all around plesant architecture and street-life. Really good confluence of street vendors, just an all around great neighborhood and there isn't anywhere like it around the rest of the cities. I am grateful to these entrepenurial bar owners for bringing people down to see for themselves.
