Bayfield is the Brady Bunch's "Marsha" of Chequamegon Bay. Yes she's cute, but she has two cute and unique sisters also. I'd encourage tourists driving through Washburn to get out of their cars and check out a few of our stores and restaurants. Karlyn's Gallery is an old favorite. DaLou's bistro next door has homemade pizzas from a wood-fired, Italian pizza oven. Take a walk along the lake on our walking trail--we have more city-owned lakeshore than Bayfield; and many, many more sand beaches. Across the bay is Ashland, WI--another cute "sister" worth visiting. I'd highly recommend The Daily Bread bakery on Chapple Ave., the Food Co-op across the street from it, and The Black Cat coffee house next door to that. And that's just for starters. If you're going to make the four-hour drive, explore the area! And on your way home, take Hwy. 13 along the south shore through Cornucopia (make sure to stop at Ehler's store and the coffee shop!), Herbster, and Port Wing. Cute little towns, shops, and the best beaches in the world. From there you can head to Duluth and south towards home.
