Thus you need to report a story. A story about sandwiches ( which each and every one is wonderful ) but to say burger backlash? Why not give credit where credit is long over due instead of covering it in some other story? The public would welcome that with positive arms! Your reporting is negative to begin with .Please try a different approach before you hang it up.

Some of my favorites are on here! Hopefully that means I'm not completely tasteless. I do think that the 112 Eatery has some of the best all-around sandwiches in the state. Had their duck pate banh mi the other night - stellar.

Bun Mi in Stadium village has awesome original sandwiches. Very affordable, too.

tigerlilly66? Every food column I read by Rick Nelson is anything but negative. Mr. Nelson is a gourmand, the guy knows what he likes and has discerning tastes. I look to this section of the 'Strib whenever Rick has something new because it will open my eyes to something new and exciting in the Metro dining community. Perhaps you'd rather hear him report on some new, economically sound "3 course tasting" at some mediocre chain restaurant ala' TGI-whatevers. Thumbs up to you Rick and your keen eye for new and exciting fare.

I don't see how this list can be and not include Caffrey's Deli & Subs. Absolutely fantastic sandwiches hot and cold. Open late, fast delivery, fast manufacture when you're waiting for your order. Their other stuff is excellent as well! Lyn-Lake.

...It's hard to capture all of the good sandwiches out there. My favorite? Torta Cubano at Manny's Tortas (various locations in south Minneapolis--Midtown Market, Mercado Central, and others): a spicy take on Cuban sandwichs--with traditional roast pork, cheese and ham, but topped with lettuce tomato, pickled jalapenos and topped with an amazing chipotle ailoi. A close second: The South Jersey Hoagie at Broder's (50th and Penn): great East Coast style sub on a crispy baguette with really good Italian coldcuts--noth the bland stuff they serve at most sub shops.

Check out the Northern Waters Smokehaus. The salmon is very good, and the bison pastrami is incredible!

Thanks for the heads-up on these places. Can't wait to try them out! Clancy's has always been the best-- glad to hear that they now serve sandwiches, too.
