Jim Souhan: Kahn's first moves are fine, if he's not done

In his whirlwind remaking of the Wolves' lousy roster, David Kahn has created a team whose two best holdovers are power forwards, and whose two top draft picks are point guards.

This draft will be defined by the failure of Kahn to take Curry with the sixth pick.

This is some kind of bad joke. Rubio? Dude won't see Target Arena because he is going back to Spain to play. Didn't want to play with Memphis? Ha! Then certainly doesn't want to play for (1) a team that stinks, and (2) a couple of immobile stiffs upfront. Flynn = good pick, but as Dick Vitale said, "The Timberwolves will regret not taking Stephen Curry."

I think you're wrong, blasphemer. I like Curry, but I don't think he'd fit in well here...especially considering I read somewhere that he had absolutely no desire to play here...to me that made him sound like another guy with a similar sounding first name that also was drafted by the Wolves many years ago.

...and that he sees Flynn as "more of a scorer". If you wanted a scorer, why not take Curry? Ridiculous.

I could not have been more stunned when Kahn went PG back to back. This makes me wonder if the ultimate plan, perhaps taking place during the next 24 hours, is to trade Flynn and the 2010 first that we picked up for the 18 to Sacramento for Evans. The only other logical scenario that I can come up with is if the wolves think Rubio is going to be in Europe for another year, or more, and Flynn gets first shot. One, or the other, could be traded once Rubio shows up. I can't believe that Kahn intends on having both on the team as I don't think either one can play effectively off the ball. A curious evening to say the least.

I love both Rubio and Flynn......but not on the same team. I would have loved to have landed either of these guys along with a true SG....who knows, we'll see how it works out.

Let's not hate on Kahn yet. He said he's not done. We still have the free agency period coming up and a trade or two can still be made.

Take Ellington because he is a pure 2? And then another point guard. If there isn't a trade in this then we will not have enough time or balls for all the guards.

In the next wo years I see Flynn outperforming Curry. Curry is a great shooter but he doesn't have the ability to drive to the hoop and dish like Flynn. If Flynn plays like I think he will many of you will be calling Kahn a genius. This move demonstrates Kahn is fearless or crazy. But that beats McHale stupid.
