In the past year, Best Buy has seen falling profits, layoffs and competition from retailers such as Amazon and Wal-Mart as it works its way through the recession.

I went to BB to buy a $699 speaker system. I ask 3 salesmen to help, none of them had any knowledge about the speakers. They all told me to find this one particular salesman. I walked the aisle looking for him, no where to be found. None of the 3 salesmen would locate him for me. I spent about half hour trying to buy the speakers, finally giving up and left the store. How can any company survive with a sales force like this. They must be acknowledgable and want to help customers. They will go the way as Circuit City did.

What does your one disappointing interaction have to do with this article? And you're honestly going to sit there and predict Best Buy will go the way of Circuit City as a result?? Please.

No company, or company leader, is perfect. Retail is a tough environment and, unless you are the competition, you should escalate sales or service issues to management for satisfaction. Brian Dunn has some serious challenges ahead, but he's no dummy. He's also a helluva nice guy and I wish him the best of luck!

I admit, I used to work at Best Buy and did not get to leave in the way I wnated to, but why is there always someone posting jibberish about walking into a store and asking some pimply faced kid blah blah blah. It is a big company, and sure there will be some bad experiences, but the good outweigh them. Don't beleive me? read the article, #1 electronics retailer in the world. I now work for a competitor...and we have some of the same issues, I just don't have all of the tools I used to to make a customer happy if they did have a bad experience. Hey, I got SCREWED by them, but as an employee along with others. I am sure some consumers did too, but they are a lot better than most of whats out there. The next big thing will be online, if we can even call it "next"...but there is always something about loading up the kids and going to look touch and feel...and once in a whil find some knowledgable help.

I can buy everything they sell for half the price online, and the fees the Geek Squad charges are outrageous.

The customer experience at BBY is terrible, in my opinion. Even if there has been improvement over the years, I still shy away from BBY for that very reason. Yes, this does have to do with the story b/c if I can help it, I will take my business elsewhere. BBY does have its challenges as the story refers to. The floor sales people seemed motivated to pitch the model/sku that drives the most incremental margin even if it not something I had scoped in my purchase intent. Sure, that's business but certainly not creating a positive customer experience.

Why would people vote against a guys bad experiences at the store? To say something like people's bad experiences outweigh the good in a way that says bad experiences are OK are not good enough. What he says about the workforce is what most of us experience at a Best Buy. That's what happens when they pay people in high school or ones that flunked out of college $7 an hour to answer questions. THis is not acceptable. In addition to that, inflated prices on items you can find far cheaper on the web or other places doesn't bode well. Unless there's a new thinking in the business world that says high prices and poor service leads to success. And I wouldn't call the product outstanding either. It's important to expose rladdi's story and those that are similar so we can figure out what's wrong to make it right.

Sound 80 was the ROOT of Best Buy which proves "Only in America". Forget all the Blah-Blah, sit back and watch the dream mature. Hundreds of smart early investors became millionaires. The Schultze/Anderson legacy is wonderful.
