Even the Decemberists' grandiose rock opera gained from the bash's improved setup outside the Walker.

we simply wuv you, bohemians. you are such individualists and free thinkers. who'd ever think that you could be led around by the rings in your noses. Piercings, orange hair, body art...what a novel idea! say a prayer for the poet, you need him and you know it! be sure to wash those stinky birkenstalk sandals. it was hot yesterday. the worst smell in the world is the combo of toe jam and hemp! even bohemians can't get used to that! :)

Thanks, siochain, for giving us your fantasy of what it may have probably might have been like there last night. How were your Saturday night re-runs on CW? You missed good music, a good, respectful crowd on a perfect summer Saturday evening. Why don't you stick to commenting on things you know something about?

I think you really need to get out more. This wasn't a Phish concert.

10,000 people there to see The Decemberists and Calexico. Solid Gold are fine, but (read carefully) THEY WERE NOT THE HEADLINER and would have been lucky to pull a thousand at a block party. There was nothing "surprising" about the crowd's response. The fact that you don't get it does not make everyone else wrong. Stop reveling in your inablity to understand.

It's clear that Mr. Riemenschneider didn't bother to even stay through the Decemberists, who were absolutely incredible. It's unfortunate that he can't be bothered to try to understand music that the 10,000 RTG attendees could handle. The logistics of this year's event were much better than last year, so the Walker & MPR listened to the feedback they received. I had vowed not to go again unless they implemented a lot of fixes, and was pleased to find things 100% improved this year. The reorientation of the stage to face south was a major improvement. Strib, next year please send a critic who is willing more than just phoning it in.

From a fan who was actually at the concert, it was an amazing evening. I find it insulting that the reviewer would insinuate that the crowd was appreciative of the Decemberists music because of excessive beer drinking. There were many, many fans like myself who were simply there to enjoy the fantastic music and not consume Summit beer. Time to get a new job, chrisr!

Were we at the same event? What a snarky review! CR-- what's your agenda against RTG and its talented performers? You were equally critical last year. I'm shaking my head over how completely off target this is. I'm embarrassed Colin Meloy might read it. What a disservice to everyone involved in this event. Well-respected venue, talent, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, respectful attendees, and one shallow review. Everyone I saw at this event thoroughly enjoyed the day. I mistakenly thought that might include you-- I observed you behind the sound booth with an actual smile on your face while Wheat DJ'd. Every one of these acts put on a terrific show-- just because these artists aren't your cup of tea doesn't mean they stunk or we were stoopid drunk if we enjoyed them. These were four acts the crowd of 10,000 actually desired to see, unlike you. We plunked down our money and were not disappointed. Congrats to all involved in making this wonderful day happen!

Hate the Decemberists much? Colin Melloy actually writes better that Chris Rrrrrrr. Maybe he's jealous. The band combines literacy and great tunes with skilled muscianship. The songs are hilarious sometimes. I wonder what music CR really likes? A band that can't string 12 songs together? Concept albums actually show rock can think over something longer than 3 minutes. Last performer to do a whole concept album in town was Neil Young, with Greendale at the Target Center. Van Morrison just did "Astral Weeks" for the first time in a long time in LA, I think. And Brian Wilson did Smile on tour. Not ... bad company.

A critic whose reviews are 100% positive isn't a critic. If you want to read nothing but fawning praise of a band, there's MySpace or Facebook.
