Not fair to your players to schedule a game at Michigan? No wonder this program will wallow in mediocrity for the rest of eternity.

So George Steinbrenner is Sid's friend? Good to know you two share a friendship in addition to sharing Alzheimer's. Please retire Sid.

What if you had a good team and this team actually competed and maybe even won either 1 or both games.(not likely, but possible)Rather than schedule Podunk U. and WTF State, have your players compete against good teams and maybe raise their level of play. Also your fans would be much more excited to see the Gophers play quality teams. All you seem to be looking at is that 7 win mark to go to the Cereal Bowl. Raise your level of expectations and maybe the level of your teams play will follow. Also,it sounds really weak when you say things like that.

What Sid and so many sports writers, etc., in the twin cities forget is that the competition between Mpls and STP is a real problem. I'm a big sports fan and a big believer in attracting business to the Twin Cities. My question is why do we need two arenas competing with each other (Target Center & Xcel)? Why do we need two convention centers competing with each other? Why can't we work together to reduce costs and increase business? Gee, maybe we can build a new stadium for the Vikings in, let's say Lakeville and then try to attract another team to White Bear Lake. Sorry, this doesn't make sense, just like two newspapers that are dying.

Looking at the increased toughness of the Gopher schedule, especially adding USC, I think Maturi did the prudent thing by not adding Michigan as a non-conference opponent and should not be slammed for that one! The Gophers under Brewster have already toughened the schedule to a point where he is getting criticized for it!

No. The dimensions of the field have been the same for over a decade. Yet the Twins hitters are slugging more this year. Therefore, you and your departed George Steinbrenner cannot blame the "homerdome" for this year's increase in homers.

Is the idiot claiming that $2 million that's going to the Schubert would stop the Target Center's "suffering"?

For all of you morons who would schedule USC and Michigan in back to back weeks tell me about another Big 10 team who is playing a tougher non-conference team than USC. This year the non-conference schedule to start the season includes Cal, Air Force, and Syracuse. All of these teams are BCS teams with one team (Cal) being top 20 while the another (Air Force) is a very solid team that may likely see a bowl game. As a comparison lets look at the murderers row that Wisconsin faces in their non-con schedule at the beginning of the season. Northern Illinois, Fresno State, and Wofford (is that a school?). I rest my case.

You got something against Crede, Sid? He's hitting HRs at a faster pace and also has more HRs than Kubel.
