You WISH you were that fit! These women (and men) are elite athletes. Try getting out of your car sometime?

To burn calories you must do some type of resistance workouts. The more muscles the higher the caloric expenditure when you are aerobic. Try kettle bells if you want tight, lean muscles. You can also workout with them outside!

the exercise is the fun part. Its having salads instead of fries, and keeping the calorie intake below the exertion that's tough.

These people are such hyprocrits. They say they want the same rights as motorists on the road, but then they dont want to follow the same rules like stopping at red lights and stop signs. I always get annoyed when I have to drive next to one of them, especially in downtown, when they are going the wrong way on the bike lane and then when you almost hit them (because they were going the wrong way) they yell at you and flip you off even though it was their own fault because they were going the wrong way. I ride myself, but usually stay out of busy street areas, as I dont want to clog up traffic, I have respect for motorists unlike some cyclists.

Pictured in the photo above held up traffic so much. I dont know what the city was thinking. You already have traffic backed up because of the construction, then on top of that you put a race closing down streets. These women seem to manly to me.

Wow, Skoula, why so unnecessarily bitter? This article isn't even about bike commuting, so stick to the subject. Those women train hard, and are the best in the country, including Kristin Armstrong, who won a gold medal in Bejing a couple months later. I really admire them and find them inspiring. The race classic is a great showcase for cycling and our state. Yes, it ties up traffic for a couple hours, but no more than a Twins or Vikings game.

my bike to work, it is great downtime, I am not as in great of shape physically as those riders are. They should also talk about the mental well being after you have done a good ride and if you think that those are too thin you are wrong, I was lucky enough to date a biker girl and there were no regrets. (and I am not being disgusting) I was jealous of how good of shape she was in.

The size of your body is determined by what you eat. The shape of your body is determined by exercise. Low-calorie vegans may be slim but they look unhealthy if they don't exercise. And there are plenty of marathoners with big beer guts. Unfortunately exercise alone doesn't work if you eat a junk food diet. (And I've spent many years trying to disprove this fact.)

I've spent the winter swimming as I've found it's a workout I can tolerate and stick with as opposed to staring at a clock on a machine for 30 minutes. Now that it's nice out I'd like to get out and biking around the lakes can be somewhat enjoyable but I've found it's incredibly uncomfortable to the nether region. Is this avoidable?
