If you do not have a direct flight,90% of the time your luggage will not come with you, change flight's and say good bye to your luggage!!

The only effect this has had (aside from the airlines making more money) is to make the cabin more uncomfortable. Why don't they charge instead for bringing a roller bag on the plane. THAT will have the right effect. Check yer darn bags people!

actually that's not as true anymore. Bags do sometimes take a different route but post-9/11 anti-terrorism rules encourage (and to a point enforce) you being on the same plane as your luggage so you don't end up blowing up a plane without the undesirable consequence of being blown up yourself.

of the passenger plus the luggage. Flying is becoming a nightmare with fat people that can't fit in their seat and everyone trying to stow their luggage in the overhead bin.

I should be able to bring as many bags as I want. I should have the first aisle seat in coach with nobody in the middle or window seat to bother me (I don't need a first class seat. I'm not greedy). Food and drinks should be free. There should be enough flight attendants to bring me pillows and blankets (also free) when I need them. My flights should never be late, and when they do come in early, there should be an open gate ready to take the flight on. And my fare should never be higher than $249, even if I book a Tuesday-to-Thursday flight one day in advance. If all of these requirements aren't met, that means I'm either a) getting ripped off with a too-high fare; b) being provided poor service; or c)both.

There is no excuse to charge for the FIRST bag, let alone the second bag due to "high" fuel cost. Petrol prices are way down from what they were when the airlines implemented this fee. With no meals, charging for blankets and pillows, cramped seats, and the ever-expanding American waistline airline travel has become a burden and an unwanted chore.
