This is a wonderful idea! I hope it takes off and can provide the Fetus just what it needs to stick around for a long time.

The link in the story to www.electricfetus.com is broken because it was inserted like this www.elec tricfetus.com and Think Indie is two words unless you're typing a web address. One strib reporter told me in an e-mail that as long as the print story is correct they don't worry about the online version.

Digital lets you pick the music you want. We don't buy cd's anymore because 90% of the music on a cd suck. We don't have to buy junk any more. This may help the music industry clean up its act and get them to release more quality, less BS.

Most MP3s are the audio equivalent of old AM radios, and/or they've been 'amped' to raise every bar in the equalizer to the top. Junk. I'll stick with LPs and some CDs. If a band can't put together near 12 good songs, what good are they? One hit wonders. At any rate, Fetus is not 'empty', it's croweded. This is a great idea for those local bands, and those who download.

It sounds like they have a nice business plan that should help both the store and the local artists they help support. Digital downloads has been good in some respects. As mentioned, many people don't buy CDs because 90% of the songs suck. That is true for the majority of crap that you hear on the radio and tv. If a band or artist is truely talented and cares about their music, they will actually take the time to write (yes, write THEIR OWN SONGS) a complete album worth listening to. While the britney spears of the world are selling their music one (terrible) song at a time, true artists should have no problem getting people to purchase their entire albums. Again, I think this is a really good thing they're doing. I hope its a success.

This was really a good idea when it was done the first time and it was called emusic.com.

It's not the job of the strib to guide you through the web. It's to present the news. It took 3 seconds for me to find the site. Quit whining.

emusic.com is a great site too. They have a lot of free downloads and its a great way to find a lot of local or not well known artists. I have found a lot of music that I really like is from the bands that are not well known...

I am sorry but I respectfully disagree with the overall sound quality of MP3 and digital music in general vs. CD and Album. In my opinion music sound quality has always been an indivdual thing.I am old enough(52) to have experienced albums and I do not miss them at all.All the cracking ,popping and skipping used to drive me crazy. The sound quality of MP3 files are just fine to my ears.As far as listening to music I spend most of my time listening to Slacker online or my Slacker portable and Rhapsody.I know many out there think that the sound quality form record albums is superior, but I repectfully again disagree. The only thing I miss from a record album is the progession from one song to another which I think is better in album format vs.digital.
