I went to hear Madam President Johnson Sirleaf speak today and this article described the day so well: electrifying! It was an incredible honor to hear such a formidable and courageous woman speak. I felt so so proud to be in the audience and I'm not African at all! I can only imagine how wonderful it must have been for the Liberians in the crowd who sang their anthem with so much energy and heart. What a neat lady.

"Sirleaf expressed support for permanent residency and possible dual citizenship for the thousands of Liberians living in the U.S." They've abused our generosity enough.

Pay, pay, and pay. I can just see the tax dollars for interperters, medical, social services, education, police, you name it, we'll pay for it. Please go back to your country of origin and work it out for yourselves.

has really gone down the tubes. The quality of education sucks and its too expensive. The research it produces is crappy. It used to be a nice school what happened to it?

Who are these people who get up every morning, logging onto the Star Tribune, and thinking of every sarcastic, nasty, negative comment they can make about every single story they read? You must live miserable, unproductive lives to be so unpleasant. It does not matter what the subject of the story is, you will drag out all your venom and spew it all over the comments section. I feel sorry for you. Do you have a life? It is a beautiful morning. Step outside and enjoy it. A world reknowned African leader visited our city, and wowed the audience. Too bad it spoiled your day.

We represent common sense. We represent puting the interests of the US ahead of foreigners. Right now we have the worst economic crisis in 80 years - 8.5% unemployment. US citizens can't get jobs and are losing their homes. As a nation we are broke. But our government keeps spending 'our' money (now our childrens' money) in very irresponsible ways. Are we angry - you bet. We want the money spent helping US citizens - like our children and grandchildren. All the Strib does is march out poster child after poster child of Mexican, Somali, Hmong, and now Liberian. The true story is some is paying for all this, and we're mad a hell that it is us!

It's the Country and the State. We have let complete socialist "community service" oriented idiots run some of our key church positions, our key government positions, and our universities. Prime example of that is Mpls/St Paul being "sanctuary cities" where criminials have more rights than the taxpayers who provide for the basis of those cities. This idiocy has got to stop..but wont happen unless those who are getting financially raped rise up and end it.

And who knows what domestic politics is really like in her home country? Does she really believe Liberia's economy can ever function sufficiently well?

It's really a quite simple game! Anytime someone says "we," "our," or "US citizens," just ponder who exactly they mean. What sort of mental image do you get? Does it look like the clientele at the "Shoppes" in Arbor Lakes or does it look like what you'll likely encounter in the Cedar/Riverside area of Minneapolis? (Note: this game probably doesn't work if you have tricked yourself into believing race relations have really improved here in the midwest)
