There is a lot being said here about what is good about the world. Congratulations to the Yangs, This is a family that works. I've lived in another culture and know what a difficult thing it is that Mr and Ms. Yang have done. Your kids are lucky to have you for parents and America is lucky for your having come here. Thanks for helping make this a better place.

I think many a times, people see immigrants as leaches to the American society but this article(and many others untold)tells us of one of the true reasons why people immigrate to America. People don't come here thinking they'll suck up all the money from tax payers. There are many immigrants who come here with dreams and goals and are pursuing a better for their family. This story is a true testament to that and I wish all of them a bright future. I hope this article will open up people's eyes and make them realize that not all immigrants are bad. We were all immigrants to this country at one time or another.

I make avg wages and am sending 2 kids to similar schools. 50K/yr tuition is no fun. we get a small amount of aid. I wonder if paying for 4 kids is harder?

I guess the answer to your question would depend to some degree on how much scholarship money might be involved with these 4 students. The article did not mention anything about that. I live in Northfield and have for the past 33 years. St. Olaf tuition while not cheap, is nowhere near 50K a year.

Awesome story on a wonderful group of young individuals and the family. It is not too often that Hmongs are portrayed positively in the media. There are positive stories everyday from Hmong and non Hmongs from north Minneapolis that gets overlooked and disregarded all the time. Education really is the key, and that key needs to get passed on.
