Leaner budget for '09 gives Minneapolis practice for '10

The Minneapolis Council OKs revamped spending for this year, and things will be tight again next year.

....are you out of your mind? I haven't seen a cost of living increase at my job in over two years. Its time this city starts to suck it up instead of trying to soak everyone for a 8% increase in property taxes.

I got a 3% pay raise in 07 and 08 then took a company wide 20% pay cut this year just so our company can survive. It's about time these *hole politicians balance their budget like we do, you don't have the money, you don't spend it. I'm sitting on an upside down mortgage anyway so if I see another property tax raise, I'm just going to walk and let the city try to collect taxes from yet another empty house......

and make them pay their own bills! The state of MN pays 70% of the bill for city services in Hibbing!

Everyone's strapped for money nowadays as it is. Why exactly does the city think it can get more from people who obviously don't have it?

Because they can raise the price, and have the county sheriff take your house if you don't pay up.
