Real riffs, but will it sell? Minneapolis-based Zivix hopes that Guitar Hero strummers will want a real guitar.

I love my new B.C. Rich W.M.D Widow 5 - string Bass I paid $700 for. I also love my metal band - Symptom of Seclusion, and I love Guitar Hero! However, I wouldn't ever see myself buying this product. Good luck, though! It could be a great idea.

As an actual guitar player, I think this is a really good idea. Guitar Hero is fun, but actually being able to play is better. If this will help teach kids, teens, and adults to play the real thing, I say go for it.

"Rockband users downloaded and additional 2.5 Million songs last year. Back list title down loads of bands like Sabbath, AC/DC/, The Runaways are also up." AC/DC doesn't make their songs available for legal downloads. And big deal, 2.5 million downloads. Any name band (Sabbath, AC/DC, Crue, GNR, Kiss) can put out a CD nowadays with zero promotion and sell 500,000 which equates to at least 5 million downloads.

Guitar Hero is fun as a game, but I am ready for something more challenging. I play some guitar, so I think this product has a lot to offer -- should be fun, and maybe I will learn from it. I will definitely buy the Zivix product when it becomes available!

Rockband and guitar hero frustrates me. I stick with the drums and singing. This looks like it may be fun. Rockband has become one of our favorite family games. Watching my 4 yr old daughter singing The Clash is a riot.

That guy that won the nationals of Guitar Hero the other year mentioned on NPR that he played the game 4-5 hours a day. All I could wonder at the time was how good of a real guitar player he would have been with that much practice.

Someday your kids will learn to play all high school band instruments using a game like this. Only it'll use real instruments. This is the future.

Awesome! As a guitar instructor I am really glad to see this. Like someone else said, why not spend all that time actually learning something that you can take further than just your living room? And by the way, you don't need to spend $500 for a starter guitar. I would never recommend spending that much until you've been playing a while. Stop down to Twin Town guitars and they've got plenty of good starters for under $250... Ben G

I've often wondered when someone would make this leap. Seems such a waste to learn guitar hero when the skill set doesn't go beyond that game. I will buy one of these.

Why would you want to do this when the Fretlight people have already done something better?? I think the Fretlight guitar is a better option. www.fretlight.com Billy
