Love the Turbines down SW. Travel through the area every once in awhile and always try to get a few shots in the area around Woodstock/Chandler/Leots and the Juhls. Wish them luck in their new venture.

In Morris near where I live there is one of these wind turbine towers and it supplies half of all the electricity for the University campus here. I believe the towers and blades are made in Fargo and Grand Forks, although a company from India (one of the largest energy companies in the world) is building a new huge facility in Pipestone, MN to produce blades. And the turbine heads (Vestas) are made in Denmark. You know where Vestas got their turbine design innovations from? From the good old U.S.A. when we put federal funding into wind R&D under the Carter administration and then it was tossed out during the Regan administration and the Danes picked it up and ran with it. Now they make piles of money selling the turbines to us! They have so many wind turbines operating in Denmark now that during especially windy times the utility electricity cost goes to zero - talk about economic stimulus! Free energy for everyone. Their next step is mass utilization of elctric cars (charge up off-peak at night while you sleep) and to sell their excess electricity to their Euro neighbors. Maybe we could learn somethings here from the Danes? I think we should be building a plant here to produce our own turbine heads.
This is so great to see. I wish the U.S. was more on top of things with energy policy instead of waging war. Renewable energies need to be the focus of economic growth and industry. If we can't build cars anymore, build trains and wind and solar energy. Let's stop destroying and instead innovate and replenish.
PXLated, great photos! Thank you!
Nuke power - $1.74 kilowatt/hr. Wind power $20-$40 kilowatt/hr, depending on wind speed. Install clean, dependable nuclear power. It is the real future, like it or not.
Rural graffiti. It's ugly and is littering of the landscape.
Could use some nukes in outlying areas like St Cloud, Rogers, Maples Grove, Albertville, etc, etc...places with some land to supply the TC. After all...those places are garbage land anyway.
Get the huge amounts of water a nuclear power plant needs? Where would they put the waste?
Recycle the waste just as France does and the most logical places are along the Mississippi River, on Lake Mil Lacs. on Lake Superior ect. The Navy has many smaller Nuc plants that no one ever hears much about.
I am glad that it is being used, and I like the ideal of being socially responsible...my question becomes how will it cut down on energy costs? I wonder how we can do an influx of solar panels to assist...
Is Juhl...selling stocks to raise capital?
