Of course. The competition has to pay TAXES and your city doesn't.

All internet service providers are obligated to pay MN applicable taxes no matter who owns them. The reason the city can/may charge less is because their intent is different. It's to provide a service and create more jobs not to maximize profits. Less greed means lower costs.

We have the right to view TV at the expense of the government - if TV requires a digital converter than that should be free! We also have the right to access high speed internet at low prices! Low prices are defined as slightly below the current going rate. Next, I think we should have a right to get HDTV for free. Why wouldn't we get it for free? If the government agrees, it won't cost anyone anything! We have rights!!!! GOVERNMENT SPENDING IS WAY OUT OF CONTROL.

Wireless 3G service is $60/month. It is better than DSL or cable Internet, and is portable - at home, at work, or on the go. No govt bureaucrat can design anything better than what already exists. Afterall, a Camel is a Horse designed by a govt consultant.

Internet service providers do NOT pay taxes. They COLLECT taxes from the customers and fork the money over to the government.

"Citizen's Have Rights" Yes they do, but look at how ridiculous these comments are.... - government should pay for cost of digital TV conversion.... - government should give us HDTV for free... THEN, this commenter complains that government spending is out of control. Unbelieveable. Perhaps even crazier is that the Star Tribune makes this their featured comment.

But not as fast, is it? Or is it. And can one connection/account be shared by multiple PCs like DSL or cable internet?

That's not so ridiculous CONSIDERING a woman today at Obama's Q&A asked for a house and a car and a new kitchen and a guy asked for unemployment benefits to replace his FULL SALARY INCLUDING BENEFITS. (If people could get that, who would ever go back to work?)
