Does anyone see what I see? The "one time" stimulus package from the feds (if we get it) would only temporarily put a band aid on the deficit for this crisis - it does NOTHING to help with future budgetary problems! In another 2 years we will be facing another serious deficit, but at least then Pawlenty will be gone.

How does this work, the state must have a balanced budget so just get the federal government to go into further debt to balance the state budget?

the stimulus isn't going to states' general funds, it's going to specific projects. on a par with Trouble Pawlenty's not counting inflation. this is not correct math, and he's heading MN straight California way, towards a deadlock and total default.

One of the most dangerous things in government is a leader who is afraid to say, "I was wrong." Noble as the governor's campaign promises may have been, they were made at a time when the depth and width of this economic collapse was not foreseen. He should consider some tax increases, in addition to equal opportunity cost cuts across a lot of state programs.

Tim Pawlenty wants to use the stimulus to bail out the state. Yet, you can be sure he will be campaigning against federal deficits as he imagines himself at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. On the other hand, I really don't want to say or do anything to discourage him from leaving Minnesota. A great favor for our state would be to have Timmy move on.

Quit giving the U of M everything they demand. Why is the word 'education' sacred anyway? They have about 30 male and female sports that cost us taxpayers many, many millions paying for coaches, facilities, equipment and flying them all over the country to compete. Stop funding them now!! It is no longer business as usual in our world. I cannot pay for some student to enjoy his or herself competing in rowing or tennis. If the sports program can sustain itself through receipts, then fine, keep it. But it bothers the heck out of me we built a stadium for Gophher football to play 4 or 5 home games a year. The Metrodome was just not good enough for the ever demanding UofM I guess? What a travesty.

Then perhaps he'd understand that dedicated monies must be used toward specific items, and not general uses.
