It seems the food companies have a point -- one study doesn't make a crisis, but we've heard that before. It will be years before this is sorted out, meanwhile whatever possible damage is done. Better safe than sorry. How about publicly available lists of food sources containing HFCS or which HFCS processors still use mercury such as with the recent peanut butter recalls. OR lables such as with allergens & food sensetivity triggers. Then people can decide for themselves or "the market" will decide if it's worth the chance. Better yet, take matters into your own hands and Lay Off processed foods -- the only place HFCS is used in any quantity. If you can't then learn to make your own so you can control what goes in.

We are all going to die eventually. Mercury will just make the process a little quicker. Relax, the FDA, Dept of Agriculture, and the American federal government will protect you. Continue to drink your Coke, yogurt, and energy bars. Enjoy life.

our technological capabilities of measuring increasingly minute traces of naturally occurring "chemicals". All food, organic or not, always has and always will contain tiny amounts of all sorts of pronouncable and unpronouncable stuff. Basic rule of toxicology is "The poison is in the dose". Excessive amounts of water can kill you yet our lives are impossible without it.

Instead of incorporating manufactured "fake" food into our food, so it lasts on the shelves months or years longer than it should, we should go back to natural things. Lard instead of the hydrogenated oils (or some of the healthier fats that are out there, all I know is my great grandma cooked with lard and she was not a heavy woman and was sharp and healthy till the day she died at 97 of natural causes). And maybe sugar, real sweetner, vs the high fructose corn syrup...we do have choices. Read labels, but things that are natural, or more natural at least, and stop buying the manufactured crap. If no one is buying it, they will have to make changes.
