If not for Carl, the Twins probable would not be here. For Twins fans, our internal gratitude.

I really thought he'd live forever. Didn't even know he was ill.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Pohlad family. Carl will be missed not only from a sports perspective but from a Twin Cities business community perspective. He saved baseball in the Twin Cities. An organization is reflective of the man on top and the solid Twins organization is the fruit of his labor.

Carl was one of the few billionaires who didn't leave Minnesota for a tax-free haven like Florida. He earned his wealth, unlike so many trust-fund-babies today. And he paid incredible amounts of taxes to the State of Minnesota. Unless I'm mistaken, he filed MN income taxes every year since at least 1984.

Death is always hard to deal with. My condolences go out to the Pohlad family. He was a great man and one who truly loved the Twins. It might be too soon but i'll ask the question....What is going to happen with the Twins? Selling? Keep in family? What?

I can't believe the first two comments here. Pohlad purchased the Twins, kept them in Minnesota, and eventually got the state to help build a new stadium for the team. It's sad that he wasn't able to see it completed and open.
