I'm glad that RT found yet another way to waste our money. Want to know how we could have saved this problem from even having to be addressed? How about not build a stadium for millionaires who should have to pay for it themselves. But no instead we pay for it and they reap the benefits. Also I would like to point out that RT Rybak drives a TOYOTA Prius that he bought with government money while our automakers are suffering. If you work for us you should drive our cars. I don't want to buy your Prius so that you can look hip while millions of Americans are losing their jobs. As a resident of Minneapolis and Minnesota and as a DFLer, I hope everyone takes notice of what a crappy job RT has done and how's he's basically done nothing but spend our money to make himself look good for the national stage.

now they are spending money on studying how to fix the traffic on Hiawatha after they killed the traffic flow with the stupid overpriced choo choo train. The ball park funding is junk, hope they are getting a nice payoff for shafting us real taxpayers.

Corruption, egoism, stupidity, are all out of control with our idiotic elected officials. They should be fired, sued and stripped of any pension plan or money they have grifted out of the system.

Rybak probably wouldn't be driving a Prius if the Big Three made a decent hybrid! This is exactly the reason the Big Three are failing.

I will fix the problem right now for 10% of that (note to Strib: please forward my contact info to the powers that be so that they can contact me regarding getting me my $25,000). The problem is, the LRT is designed so that every time a train approaches an intersection, traffic on Hiawatha is stopped to allow any traffic on the cross street that may have stopped on the tracks to clear. So, culling the herd by letting idiots who stop on the tracks get their due aside, the logical solution which anyone with half a brain should be able to figure out in about 2 seconds, and without it costing a quarter million, is to prohibit traffic waiting to turn on to or cross Hiawatha from coming to a stop on the tracks. Simply have the LRT cross arms lower every time the cross street light turns yellow and keep them down until the light is ready to change again. They should be able to coordinate the timing of the light with the LRT schedule.

Also, to continue the topic of being off-topic, lets point out that Toyota is building a plant in Mississippi to build the Prius, whereas the big three are shuttering plants every year. If only the American companies had their act together, they wouldn't be in such a situation.

$2+ million because people who pay lots of money shouldn't be inconvenienced to walk-or maybe we're scared that they will melt?

For Ryback and St Paul Ryback Jr. to turn University Ave into another Hiawatha. Consider all the cross streets along University and not just the main ones...what will that be like? I guess it's worse than the garbage on Hiawatha right now. Good luck if you want cross University via Rice, Dale, Lexington, or Snelling. It's gonna take several lights AND trains now.
