3M doesn't need a bailout. They just aren't making their 50-60% profit margin on their scotch brand items. No need for a bailout though - just take away more of the employee's compensation, as usual.

Was this projection factored into the $5.2 billion state budget shortfall? When 3M's profits are down, their state tax contribution also falls. Something to think about.

More jobs moved to India to reduce costs. More dismantling of the middle class. Less money the middle class has to spend. More layoffs because of the aforementioned. The downward cycle continues.

Napolitano, like Obama, supports expanding foreign guest worker programs and creating a pathway to citizenship for 12-million illegal aliens so that they can compete with US Citizens for jobs, wages and benefits. This is change that we can NO LONGER AFFORD!!!

Most of 3M's global work force doesn't even work in Minnesota. While we need to get a handle on the 20-25% of their jobs that remain, it is the 75% which have been exported elsewhere in the US, or abroad, that represents the real lion's share. While getting the world's working-class to squabble with itself is interesting, and has put more than one tyrant into power, the bottom-line is that the Fortune-500 has exported the hopes of a generation.

It's the only way America is going to make it through this crisis. Join with the US Congress and call them to ensure increased importation of foreign guest workers (Worker Visa programs) and to grant undocumented workers amnesty so that they can help America through this very difficutl time. Make sure that your union representative is including foreign workers in the union so that Amerca will make it through this time of turmoil.

Rep. Lamar Smith recently issued a statement encouraging the Senate to pass H.R. 6633 (the longterm extension of the E-Verify program). In his statement, Rep. Smith said, "The number of American jobs continues to fall at a staggering rate. Today, the Department of Labor reported that 10.3 million American workers are looking for jobs. In November alone, the Department reported that 533,000 jobs were lost and unemployment increased to 6.7 percent.... Given the current state of the economy, Congress must support policies that help U.S. citizens, legal immigrants and employers who play by the rules. The Senate can and should immediately pass H.R. 6633, a long-term extension of E-Verify, the federal government's system that allows businesses to ensure that the employees they hire are legal." Please call your Senators and urge them to sponsor an amendment to attach H.R. 6633 (which passed the House 407-2) to the auto bailout bill.
