Department 56 meets Chapter 11

The Lenox Group, the Eden Prairie-based parent of Department 56, says falling sales and debt load have led it to file bankruptcy.

Spent $80 at MOA store. Love D56 merchandise. Holidays wouldn't be the same without them. Support a Minnesota tradition.

The warehouse in Rogers closed when Department 56 and Lenox merged. All product now goes through a Lenox warehouse, which I believe is in Pennsylvania or somewhere out East.

I think we have seen the end of an economy based on "Knick-Knacks" and other completely useless crap. You don't need a Santa's village to be happy nor is food off of fine china better than food eaten off ceramics.

Dept 56 does employ people, and those jobs are important, but I agree about the useless crap. No one needs it and most of the money goes to China anyway.

we need to get back to manufacturing more traditional products, etc, not this stuff which has its place, but we shouldn't base our economy on it.....
