I wonder how "green" people will be in a down economy. I give this program six months before they "pull the plug" (tee hee).

Are they adding the cost to produce, ship, print and market the card--how about the lights we need to read the card or the gas it takes the security guard to get to the store so we don't steal them. ON and on and on. As with the market and the automakers---you can't just buy out your troubles and call it good. NUFF SAID!!

You dummies who need to do this to free your conscience have completely lost it, all in the name of the Al Gore Global Warming Farce (AGGWF). Shame on Best Buy for getting involved in this crap.

When selling a "green" product, plastic materials are your enemy. Why didn't they make the cards out of 100% post consumer card stock? Granted, in the short term, its cheaper and easier to make plastic, but in the long term, the card stock would decompose whereas the plastic will remain indefinitely.

I went there a couple of years ago to see if they had any sort of recycling program for tvs, etc. (i.e. the crap they sell by the ton) and they looked at me like I was speaking Chinese. Environmental stewardship? Only if it's in our interest.

If anyone else has seen something like this done perfectly, please post it. I say kudos for the effort, even if it's just a start.

I agree both that it's a hollow marketing ploy and that if they truly cared about the environment they wouldn't have used plastic cards. I also think that from a marketing standpoint they couldn't have chosen a worse time time to announce this! Holidays are coming up and the economy is in the toilet. Many families are struggling to pay their OWN electric bill - why would they spend money for additional energy that they can't even use?
