Didja know that Norm Coleman's votes changed from what was reported on election night and the 'certified' counts by 8000 votes? You can look this up, but that would make your snide and whiney comments about a couple hundred vote change look silly, ignorant or even misinformed... THOUSANDS vs couple hundred Dont let the facts get in the way of your talking-points people!

Franken's campaign is citing Bush V. Gore to bolster their argument that voters must be treated equally? Really? Wow. Besides, the SCOTUS specifically directed its ruling NOT to be used as precedent, AND, it's DeFacto result was to stop a statewide recount going on in Florida. I had hopes the recount there in the state of my birth was going to be better than our Governor's election here in WA 4 years ago, but, it's not looking good. So, the lawyers are all there. How about the guns and money?

I am not sure if you are following this story, but if you are I have question. Is it the false internet economy, the recession or the lying to a grand jury under Clinton that you wanted to put up to Bush's strong economy (before Barny Frank and Harry Reid's bastard children, Freddie May and Freddie Mac imploded), 7 years of safety here at home and the freeing of 25 million humans with less causalities then D-Day?

greggen - You sound informed about the issue. Why don't you do the research and post a link for us? If you're correct and it's a matter of public record, it shouldn't be difficult to locate, since you know what you're looking for.

Such a pile of horse manure from the Coleman campaign in claiming that "for the third time" Coleman has been named the winner. Everything until now has been completely unofficial. Today's action by the canvassing board is only its certification of the results of the machine count as submitted by county election officials, a count that is almost certainly based on numerous machine errors, validly cast ballots that are not counted by the machines, and possibly still some human errors in tallying and reporting the results of the machine count to the Secretary of State's office. Because Minnesota law recognizes that such errors are routine in machine tabulations and human tallies, it makes a hand recount automatic when the vote is so close that the normal error rate could easily affect the outcome. So Norm Coleman has not won anything yet. His campaign's premature proclamation that he's the "winner" is just a cheap political stunt, a transparent effort to snow the news media and the public. It coarsens and demeans the electoral process. Let the recount proceed to completion; then and only then will we know who is the legitimate winner. Norm Coleman should be ashamed of himself. Minnesota deserves better.

Any Republicans out there who can contribute something other than childish nonsense and racist stereotypes?

that a hotly contested race where the margin of victory falls within the accepted error rate was going to happen again. In FL in 2000, we can't know the no doubt results. You simply can't count 10 Million ballots without a degree of error. 500 odd votes to bush could have changed to 200 gore, then 700 bush, then 1000 gore on each successive recounting. same applies here. 3 million votes, 215 is the difference. aply a .01% error rate. (not one out of a 100, not 1 out 1000, but one out of 10,000-there are 300 "10,000's" in 3 million. so each time you count, you're error rate is .01% = 300- the margin being questioned is 215. There literally is no way to know. every recount will produce a different number. So, there's gonna be bad blood here regardless, each side will have a plausible argument why they actually won. But until we run 100% verified, mistake free voting processes-processes that do not exist, not for a statewide election on varying vote tabulation machines- we are stuck with a process that, within certain narrow parameters (this one) the winner is simply unknown. Ambiguity-embrace it

If the SOS comes up some way to change the outcome, it will be clearly partisan. It is over. It would be more damaging for the DFL to take this election at this point than to just have lost by a few votes.

I don't understand why the campaigns are continuing to campaign -- What's the point? Piles of paper won't be looking at press releases, so I don't get the point of trying to win a public relations battle at this point. The only people who matter now are the 5 people on the canvassing board, and certainly these press releases aren't going to influence their work. It makes no sense to be worrying about the public's opinion any longer.
