People are so quick to dismiss the NTSB and claim real evidence. I know I will be called an insensitive jerk in these comments, but is the real reason to find someone to blame politicaly or monitarily?
The NTSB is a politically controlled agency and lacks credibility given the current administration and their penchant for mingling government business and politics. Unbiased engineers have always stated that the bridge was not constructed for the type of load and demand that it ended up being used for. There have been a lot of warning signs related to the bridge and all were ignored under multiple administrations (democrat, independent and republican). Safety needs to be the number one concern to the NTSB and blaming the architechts does not solve this country's infrastructure problem.
I can buy that, but when does it end? How many people need to point to a common reason before it can be laid to bed. As for the reason the NTSB is wrong being that it's a government agency I find a bit ludicrous. It has a long track record of being independent thinkers. And before we all start blaming Bush, lets se some evidence of that first.
