But it would be premature to count her out of the Sixth District race, observed one independent analyst, who said she can turn the controversy to her advantage.

if it has ever occurred to her to say, "I am sorry. That was a dumb thing "to say. I shouldn't have said it." Probably too late now, but she might still be in Congress in two weeks if she would have.

The RNC is not the only one who doesn't want anything to do with Ms. Bachmann. She needs to be put out to pasture on November 4th and this district will do it.

When the quotes that were taken from her appearance were exactly what she said? Michelle, just admit you said a dumb thing and you're sorry, and stop blaming everyone else for your screw-up. It only makes you look smaller.

I've been a critic before, but the GOP did the right thing here. I highly, highly doubt any member of any state or federally elected office in this country is un-American. Bachman's words were obviously meant to stir something up and she sure did. Hats off to the GOP for standing by the morals.

.. with dcrothers. Just apologize and move on. My guess is that she really meant what she said, but it would have been more "politically correct" to say she was sorry/wrong. Another better strategy would be to say, "I stand by my statements. I believe Obama to be anti-american". Then she could explain how her view of America is different than Obama's. I agree more with Obama's view of America than hers, but she would have kept many supporters. We have been 'spreading the wealth' ever since the implementation of the tax codes. John McCain would not do away with tax codes and spreading the wealth either. It is a matter of degrees. I personally think the mark of a society is how it treats its poorest peoples.
