This is classic defense lawyer 101! His client is innocent, we intend to fight the charges, he is concerned about his victims, and, of course, he has found religion. This is all a bunch of CRAP and just a smokescreen. Petters is concerned about his family and employees??? Who are you trying to kid? He was so damn concerned that he continued this fraud for 12 YEARS!!!! Get used to that jail cell!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billie_Sol_Estes -- Many people (purportedly) committed suicide in the Estes cases - then, after getting ten (10) years for the biggest fraud (at the time) ever pulled against dear ole Gov = the US Supreme Court overturned his conviction due to the nation press and cameras being in the court room!

Bring the money back in, tell where all the off shore accounts are - make sure that the Fed's have every single persons name who participated and then give him 5 years. Ten years at his age is akin to life - making it 5 years for Giving all the details - while he will have to hope he has some money hidden to bribe all the pen officials to keep him safe for being a rat --- The Truth and money returned is more important than how many years he gets.

How is it that the four men who beat and tortured a vulnerable adult are held on only $100,000.00 bail and Tom Petters is denied bail. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

So is this lawyer saying that Bin Laden doesn't love his family or care about his employees (followers)? Ok - just kidding. But the reality is that the people who Petters ripped off may in some cases be just as devastated as if they were hit by a terrorist attack propagated by Bin Laden. White Collar Crooks too often say they aren't as bad as other crooks but these massive financial schemes can devastate lives sometimes longer and deeper than a physical assault can.
