Al Frankin is not a politician, he is not one who can work with someone he doesn't agree with. I have worked in AL in the past, and he is a funny funny man, and he makes me laugh. However, he "hates" people he doesn't agree with - I can imagine it would be hard for someone from the right to work with this guy, - he just won't listen, he doesn't even give you a chance to explain your position, and when you give him facts, he will just make fun of you....I like Al, and I can't vote for him.

The pitch for Al is not working. This story was being run and negative comments were coming in about Al, strib changes some lines and restarts comments hoping for better. Did Franken teach you guys all you know about controlling the media, remember his radio show went down in flames.

< Recovery has been an ongoing theme in his work, including one of his best-known characters, Stuart Smalley> If that's the case, he is poking fun at the steps of recovery! Loved those skits, but in this context is doesn't help his "sensitivity" case. Give it up Al.

What about this "personal" revelation is supposed to make me want to vote for New Yorker Al Franken? My vote is for the re-election of Senator Norm Coleman, a man who has devoted his entire adult life to serving the people of St Paul and the state of Minnesota.

Talk about a blatant attempt at garnering the sympathy vote for Al. Nice try Trib but Al is still a carpet bagging tax evader unfit to represent the state of Minnesota as dog catcher let alone Senator. Give it up Al. Nobody is buying it. Have a nice trip back to New York

Coleman ads "ATTEMPTED" to portray Franken as out of control? I'd say they do an outstanding job of it. Another subtle jab by the Red Liberalune to put out free advertising for Franken. Kudos to the commenters so far for not biting.

just another dodge by Al to deflect from the real issues. And it won't work with me.

How is her alcoholism relevant to Angry Al being a senator? It isn't! He's ill tempered, vile, and nasty. Heck, I'd drink myself into a stupor daily too if I found I was married to a jerk like Al Frankenstein.

then the AD's Norm's daughter or wife appeared in six years ago; which were meant to counter the controversy of his personal life while attesting to his committment and devotion? The appearance of a wife or family member is a necessary evil in politics - you accept one for one candidate and you have to accept one for the other ....
