Russian special forces will take this ship. If anyone lives, it will be coincidental.
having been in the us navy .when i was on a guided missle destroyer. we knew abt piracey ,and it is also in se asia this is not a new problem we just don t hear abt it as much it is not like 200 yrs ago.. hey where is my eye patch and parrot on my shoulder. we know what we hv to do, we know were there at, so let s take care of the prob, that has been going on for far to long and this is for all nations to act on cuz yes it also affects u
Why don't the Russians patrol the Gulf of Aden, off of the Yemeni coast, capture a boatload of Somali refugees--there's plenty of Somali refugees--and demand the safe return of their cargo ship and crew in exchange for the boatload(s) of Somalis. Maybe the Russians could rifle butt a few of the Somali boat people and send a video of the rifle butting (side of the head would be a good, convincing shot, wails of "Help us! Help us fellow Somalis!," etc.) to the cargo ship so the Somali pirates can watch the torture of their fellow Somalis. Of course, the $20M the Somali pirates want from the Russians, ain't worth 20 boatloads of Somali refugees. The Somali pirates know that their fellow Somalis trying to escape their own country are worthless to them. As for Somali officials urging the US Navy to send in Commandos...what for? It's like Help us! Help us! Then afterward it's hate America. Let the Russians deal with it.
Knowing they were sending this ship into waters pretty much controlled by modern pirates (Terrorists w/o Portfolio) was not too bright on the Russian's part. Why didn't the Russians provide armed warships as escort ?
Sounds like a Russian problem, let them send their Counter-Terr troops to try to take it.
America should support the op logistically, and only if it fails and it appears the Tangos will escape, sink the sucker no questions asked...
