Sounds like a win-win-win, etc. situation! Also, I like the idea of keeping alive the HHH legacy.

Like the Xcel naming-rights deal, all the revenues go to the team. I had to spend $200 in 2002 to learn about the Xcel deal. Since the ballpark is publicly owned and mostly publicly funded, don't we have a right to know? Tony Spadafora

This editorial starts out as garden-variety local cheerleading, but goes for the full reacharound when it turns to: "Target’s marketing experts, who should help keep the ballpark full and — at least in some sections — affordable. As crucial will be Target’s use of its "design for all" positioning as a guiding principle in appropriately branding — but not overwhelming — the stadium." It's almost as though they are trying to convince themselves of the nobility of these two organizations.

..Wrigley Field was not named for a sponsorship of a product, it was named for the owner, Phillip K. Wrigley, when he bought the team, not to promote a product, and they are trying to sell that stadium name also.

Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, HHH Metrodome. Oh well, Target Field sounds better than TCF Bank Stadium.

I think the renaming of the stadium in Houston had to do with something besides just getting a better offer or wanting to change the name. But I am sure as a journalist you would actually research these things.
