The events surrounding VP candidate Sarah Palin provided plenty of fodder for late-night jokes.

To nit-pick, the correspondent from "The Daily Show" is actually named Aasif Mandvi

David Letterman has a child out of "wedlock". Yet he has the gall to direct his "comic relief" at another person in similar circumstances. Ben Franklin, Franklin Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Clinton and many other elected officials, including Bobby and Ted Kennedy, have set the example for our youth. The media uses untoward relationship examples for audience attraction. Hypocritical to say the least. I hope the many families that have or had similar circumstances to the Palin family will speak up and say to comics, Strib writers, news show "hosts" that enough is enough. Do we start checking everyones' marriage date and then start counting? Is that what we want. Again the media ought to be ashamed of it self.

Nominating a person for vice president of the United States who was recently in a political party that advocated Alaska seceding from the union doesn't seem very smart to me.

This might come as a surprise to you, but late night comedians are paid to tell jokes concerning current events. Letterman may have a child out of wedlock but, the last time I checked, he wasn't running for public office on a conservative ticket.

Bristol is not running for public office either...and she's not a comedienne. But both she and Letterman were practicing the same form of birth control--ABSTINENCE. Bristol: because that's what her mom preached. Letterman: because he so dang ugly!

I fail to see the humor in any of these "jokes". Humor at the expense of others isn't humor. I don't think anyone finds humor in being publically humiliated, particularly by the media or late night character assasins. It's interesting to me that the Star would find it important to include all of the "Jokes" in their article. I wonder how Mrs. Palin's daughter feels about the "Jokes"? I'm certain that as a mother, Mrs. Palin is laughing hysterically over this "humor". I find the references to certain of Minnesota's demographics to be particularly vexing. However, I'm sure the members of our black community are laughing uncontrolably. Any other mothers out there who would like to share the joy over their unwed child being pregnant??
