Pawlenty's health care plan would allow patients to view records on secure websites and use debit cards to tap flexible spending accounts. For 50,000 state employees, it could be a reality by next year.

The title says it all. Even with decent insurance I struggle to make the copays for the equipment and supplies that keep me alive. Your savings accounts are meaningless when you're too broke to contribute to them. Go away with your idiot ideas. Haven't you done enough damage to this state already?

If you are a productive member of society. Be thankful that you live in an age were modern health care is even an option. 30 years ago you get a malignant tumor and you go home to say goodbye to your family. You don't work for free and you probably aren't curing cancer. Don't think you can force the health care field to accept your profound thanks as payment.

"Secure Website" I sure don't want MY private health records somewhere hackable, whether it's by some bored pimply faced high school computer whiz, a Russian cyber crook out to make a fast million, or most likely an insurance company, bank, or employer data base mining for things they have no right to know.

Pawlenty comes up with a lot of ideas. I don't always agree with them, but the creativity is exactly what is needed right now. Putting consumers in charge of their health care is defenitely where we want to go, and now there are some concrete steps to get there. Other policies, like uniform insurance claims, will also be crucial elements of a sustainable system.

I'm pretty sure if HSA were going to fix our BROKEN health care system, they would have done so decades ago. Further, if no one has money to put in these HSA they they are just another waste of time. They are also a pain in the ass, you can't buy Tylenol with them without being audited every month..which then puts the accounts into suspension, so some Bank can make interest off it. The whole concept is a JOKE.

We need to take the profit out of HMO's like in Germany did. They spend 4 % of the GDP on health care instead of the 16% that we do. Those german HMO's still compete for customers and guess what... their premiums are declining, they can't take away your insurance if you loose your job and has no money. But Powlenty will never bring this up, because he is nin the pocket of the HMO's.

Does anyone get this? You are turning over decisions about your health care to a state health department bureaucrat.

They are from the Government, and they are here to help us. Please, leave us alone. We think you've "helped" us enough already.

My opinion now is NO WAY! As mentioned, I don't want anyone to see my personal health information, and somehow there is always, always someone who has broken into the information, or maybe an employee lost thousands of patients infomation, no way! And, if they ever do approve this plan, wouldn't they have to get everyone's permission to go into your health information? Wouldn't the privacy act come into play here? There is already enough information about me floating around, I don't need someone to see what is personal, really personal information about me.
