Minneapolis' new fire chief rose to the top of his department only after working to create promotional opportunities for other black firefighters.

The former Mayor, (great Senator and VP of this country), HHH (if you don't who I mean, don't read on), gave one of the most stirring Civil Rights speeches of all time, at a DNC convention...and it has taken this long and lawsuits to see the fruition....But congratulations go out as well....The new Chief seems to have deserved it!!!

Congrats to Alex Jackson. If I read this story correctly, he was chosen based on his ability. It sounds like he certainly has earned it. If my house, my neighbor's house, or your house is on fire, or if a bridge collapses, I want a fire chief who knows how to respond to emergencies, and save lives. I don't care about their race, gender, national origin, creed, affectional preference, or political affiliation. Best wishes to Alex, and the entire Minneapolis Fire Department.

Alex Jackson is a great choice for Minneapolis Fire Chief. He is a great person and extremely capable to lead the department with passion, grace, and integrity! Minneapolis is moving in the right direction! Congratulations Alex! I have a few tears in my eyes! You deserve this. Ken Bradley
