Feb. 25: Souhan: Twins have sizable expectations for a sizable Sano

While Byron Buxton has become the consensus top prospect in baseball, 260-pound Miguel Sano is the best Twins prospect on the doorstep of the big leagues.

Sounds like he's already better than anyone on the major league roster.

Gardenhire: "Alright Miguel, there are runners on first and third, we need you to just drop a single over the second basemen's head here"...Sano: "But coach, why don't I just put one over the left field fence?"...Gardenhire: "No no no no, trust me, this is better, first and third all day long"...Cashman up in New York: Smiling, "only three more years guys and we have our ARod replacement."

I hope Miguel stands and admires 500 + HR's over his career. I can think of a few million fans in Minnesota that will be watching and smiling with him.

If Sano really is 260 lbs, he'd better drop at least 20 lbs if he wants a long career without many injuries.

Really looking forward to watching Sano play when he gets called up. Hopefully sometime this season!

Once he gets good they will trade him for nothing so they don't have to pay his salary.

Would be terrific if Sano can bring those minor league stats to the majors. That is a big IF though. Good luck to the young man!

Sounds like a perfect fit for first base.

Anyone have any thoughts to why the Twins are so intent on keeping him at 3B? I've always thought they should move Mauer to 3B anyway, but now he's a 1B...then they could've made Sano a 1B.

bstoel: offense at 3B is harder to come by than offense at 1B. That makes Sano more valuable as a 3B. And, as a young player, you want him focused on just one position. He may move to first someday, but it's a move worth resisting as long as possible.
